Hi Armand; I am not an expert on tires, but I have learned one thing, if the composition is hard, they will last longer but they will have less traction. On a motorcycle, traction is all important and far outweighs economy, so I have always used the recommended size and selected a soft tire which is safer in the corners.
(p.s. I do the same with cars)
